Everlasting: The Anime That Will Always Live On In My Memories

When I think about the geeky interests I have, anime has always been my first love before video games. I obsessively searched for and explored all the anime I could get my hands on. I fell in love with many and faithfully rewatched them when the mood struck. But as I got older and adult responsibilities took over my time, anime steadily declined for me. I could no longer keep up with what was new and critically acclaimed by anime fans, and anime was the last thing I seemed to want to watch when I had some downtime.

I may be considered old and no longer aware of what’s hip and cool in the anime world, but there will always be those few that will forever be evergreen in my mind. Ones I will gladly return to if I felt like revisiting my old love anime.

Hello Anime, My Old Friend

Anime has always been my first love. Ever since Sailor Moon debuted in North America in the 1990s, it became my entry point into the vast and wonderful world of Japanese animation. I discovered Cardcaptor Sakura, Fushigi Yugi, Ayashi no Ceres, Revolutionary Girl Utena, and so much more. Manga followed closely behind, mostly because many of the anime I fell in love with were already based on a manga series. When homework and studying were done during my high school and college years, I couldn’t wait to spend my weekends or vacations from school diving into an anime series I was into. Now with those days long behind me, I find my anime viewing to be dwindling until a great sense of nostalgia (or boredom) nudges me to see what’s currently available on streaming.

Overcoming Fear: The Struggle Of Pursuing A Dream And Silencing The Negative Voices In Your Head

I am by nature a quiet and introspective kind of person. When I am alone, I’m often found going deep within to reflect on any number of things––myself, people, and situations I may encounter in my day to day life. If you were to get inside my head, it’s constantly swimming in thoughts and emotions I’m trying to process. This is why I tend to keep and write personal journals. It’s an outlet to pour whatever I feel or think in written form. The pages become a vessel to unburden myself from the noise and crowding in my head that may have gotten too difficult to carry for a long period of time. It’s also a form of writing that helps heal me and pushes me to honestly and critically assess myself as I am now and who I still want to be in the future. Among my inner reflections lately has included the ongoing struggle of writing and finishing my novel.

The Specter Sisters: How The ’90s Sailor Moon Anime Gave Them A Shot At Redemption

Ever since the classic ’90s Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal animes have been streaming on Hulu and Neon Alley, I’ve been watching both series back-to-back. As far as anime watching goes, this has been the only anime I’m able to make time for these days. The benefit of watching these series side-by-side is the noticeable differences in how certain character and story arcs go. One particular story arc I found myself favoring one anime over the other would be how the story of the Specter Sisters played out during the Sailor Moon R season.

She’s Got The Look: My Top Five Fashion Picks From The ’90s Sailor Moon Anime

What you wear and how you wear it is a very personal choice. You can find inspiration for your personal style just about anywhere from the people you see on the street to fashion magazines. Looking for style inspiration in your favorite anime, like I’ve talked about in a past post, is another source to draw upon.

Thanks to a BuzzFeed article I read about the ’90s Sailor Moon anime having a wealth of fashionably dressed Sailor Scouts, when they’re not in school or fighting monsters, it reminded me of one of the biggest draws for watching the anime when I was younger. No, it’s not Tuxedo Mask, but he is one of them. I’m talking about the looks many of the characters in the anime wore, and I often imagined myself being able to wear these looks in real life. Death Of The Sailor Scouts: My Impressions On The Last Two Episodes Of Season One Of The Uncut Sailor Moon Anime

The conclusion to the first season of the uncut Sailor Moon aired last Monday through streaming services Hulu and Neon Alley. Being able to see the last two episodes fully intact and how it should have aired in North America when Sailor Moon first burst onto the scene back in the ’90s was what I have been waiting for my whole life. I wasn’t disappointed either and I found myself deeply affected by the whole viewing experience. Fair warning, the following post will contain spoilers. Sailor Moons, Elsas, And Jokers…Oh My: A Day At New York Comic Con

Every October is the one month New York City becomes geek mecca when Comic Con comes rolling into town. It’s the social event of the year for all geeks to unite and show their passion for their favorite TV show, comics, or video games. This is also the best place for people watching, as hard core cosplayers come out from all over to either show off their creations or just dress up for fun. And just like previous years, I have been fortunate enough to attend New York Comic Con this past weekend at the Jacob Javits Center once again.

Rei vs. Rei: How Sailor Moon Crystal’s Rei Reigns Supreme Over Classic Anime Rei

A few weekends ago saw the debut of Rei Hino, aka Sailor Mars, in the latest episode of Sailor Moon Crystal. Knowing that the newer anime will be following Naoko Takeuchi’s manga more closely, it was one of my most anticipated episodes to watch. I was not disappointed when I saw the “true” Rei come to life before my eyes.

Sailor Moon Crystal Trailer: New Anime, New Look

A few weeks ago, an official trailer for next month’s Sailor Moon anime reboot, Sailor Moon Crystal, debuted online. To say that the studio behind this new anime is pulling all the stops to make a faithful adaptation to Naoko Takeuchi’s original manga series would be an understatement. Clearly, there’s a move to set this newer anime of the beloved series apart from its classic ’90s counterpart.
