About simpleek

What is simpleek exactly? The word simpleek is short for Simply Geek. I started this blog as a way of indulging my passion for writing while also improving it. I enjoy being a geek and would love to share my thoughts with the world. Maybe even share some of my random musings to everyone who will care to read them.

Coming up with a title for my first blog was a difficult task. I wanted a title that would embody who I am and what I want to write about. I remember how a good friend of mine, who is a fellow geek girl like me, would joke about me looking more fashionista girlie girl than a fangirly geek.

Keeping her comment in mind, I will admit that I love pretty clothes and things. I doubt I am America’s Next Top Model material, but I do know how to dress. My style is simple and unfussy just like my enjoyments in life. Aside from my inner fashion girl love for great styles, I do have my geek side. I love anime, manga, video games, comic book films, and cartoons from the late 1980s to 1990s before they started making them bad in the 2000s (’90s X-men, Spiderman, Batman, etc. absolutely rules hands down). Then it occurred to me that the best title for my blog would be Simply Geek. I wanted a shortened form of the title and came up with simpleek.

My blog posts and blog appearance will be in keeping with my simplicity sensibilities, but it will not hold back in the geek and everywhere in between. I write book, anime, manga, and game reviews, but I tend to focus more on writing opinion/analysis pieces on the main topics I cover. Just a fair warning, I am a major shojo manga/anime lover, so a lot of my reviews may reflect that. This doesn’t mean I don’t watch shonen or any other non-shojo type genres. I do love me some Trigun and Full Metal Alchemist sometimes. I have my cousin to thank for that. I am also a fairly slow gamer. I got into gaming late––like 2009 late. If I review anything, it will be for the systems I own as follows: Nintendo Wii, Switch, DS, 3DS, PSP, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.

I think that about wraps up this section. I invite you to stay and read what I have to say. If you enjoy reading my content, then please follow me on RSS Feed, Twitter, Facebook, or email subscription. Or you can just like my WordPress posts. If I’m reaching you in any way, I like to know that what I have written has been worth the effort. I also enjoy getting feedback and hearing what your own opinions are, so please feel free to drop me a line on any of my entries.
