Dear Diary: The Interesting Perspective You Gain When You Re-Read Old Journal Entries

I’ve been a life long journal, or diary as they were called growing up, keeper from the day I was given a Mickey Mouse diary as a gift from a friend of the family when I was maybe about 10 or 11-years-old. It had a fancy lock clasp and keys to hold all the “secrets” or my most private of thoughts from prying eyes. At least whatever my kid brain thought was well worth keeping tucked away for just me.

The habit of journaling stuck, and it has tracked every stage of my life from adolescence to young adult to now. A book shelf is filled with completed journals of thoughts and memories that mattered most to me at the time. Recently, I decided to take one of those books off the shelf and began thumbing through the pages. What I found within those pages was a girl who was and wasn’t me.

Your Room Is A Reflection Of You: Adding A Bit Of Geeky Flair To My Bedroom

The last few months have been a non-stop project of settling in and furnishing the new apartment I moved into. Every furniture and their placement has been carefully considered to put together a room the way I want it. Until now I’m nowhere near done with getting every room setup. There’s still plenty more furniture to buy and small accents to tie everything together. But one room I’m almost finished with is my bedroom, and it reflects everything I have loved since I was a kid.

End Of An Era: Slowly Parting Ways With New York City Comic Con

When we think of fall what immediately comes to mind are pumpkin spice lattes, cooler temperatures, and the turning of the leaves in an array of gorgeous colors. At least if you live in my neck of the woods. October in New York City also means it’s Comic Con season, and yet this is the year I decided to skip it entirely.

Turning What’s Old Into New Again: Why I’m No Longer Interested In Shopping For New Fashion Pieces

Moving into a new home is one of the biggest headaches you’ll ever deal with in your adult life. Not only is everything in a disarray, but it’ll take you months to feel settled into your new place, especially if you’re purchasing a whole slew of new furniture. But one of the unexpected takeaways I’ve gotten from moving, and I’ve learned some lessons along the way, is the realization that you really don’t need another pair of shoes or that cute new dress you saw at that store. What you currently have is more than enough and it can even feel “new” again if you adjust your mindset.
