From the moment I made a promise to myself that 2020 and beyond would truly be different for reaching my targeted writing goal (finishing a full manuscript), I knew one of the things I would have to work out is scheduling.
The winter snap and icy chill in the air will have people wrapped up in their coziest sweaters and warmest coats. It’s the kind of season where all you want to do is hibernate with a good book, a bingeable TV series, or an immersive video game. But for those days when you do get out in the world, sometimes you want to look your very best and dress up a bit. I’ll have moods where I’ll want to wear something pretty and flirty, but also have it be practical for the coldest months of the year. Luckily, the ongoing trend of the season is the pleated long skirt.
No matter what part of the world you’re living in we can all collectively agree that the times we’re in now are filled with uncertainty, upheaval, and malcontent. It’s a constant struggle to stay hopeful and optimistic when the barrage of breaking news stories serve to make us even more cynical about the direction humanity is headed in. While it’s easier to sit back and continue to watch the world burn all around us, I take comfort in knowing that there are still some safe spaces left to retreat to when everything gets too overwhelming. In times like these I go back to the video games that offer me some escape.
