Walking On Sunshine: Sunshine Blogger Award

The blogging community is full of wonderful, creative, and supportive people. Ever since I started my blog back in 2011, I didn’t know what to expect. I made the brave decision to put myself out there. The rest, as the saying goes, is history. I have continually come to this corner of the Internet time and again, and I still wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world. Being a blogger and a part of the community has been a constant source of joy and inspiration. When one of my fellow bloggers decided to recognize/nominate me for a blog award, I’m always surprised and deeply grateful for the consideration. The Sunshine Blogger Award is the most recent honor I have received.

The Hannie Corner has nominated me for the award back in April and I haven’t been able to fully acknowledge it at the time because of a busy schedule and then a long vacation I took last month. I’m no stranger to the Sunshine Blogger award, as other bloggers have bestowed it upon me before. Whether it’s this award or another, I’m always happy to accept.

The rules for the award are as follows:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
  • Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
  • List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.

Thank you for nominating me The Hannie Corner! Without further ado, here are the answers to your questions:

1. What is the greatest weakness of your favorite video game of all time?

A: Hmm, I’m not sure if I fully understand this question. Do you mean what’s the one thing that keeps my favorite video game from being 100% flawless? If that’s the case, I would say the fetch quests in the Dragon Age series. It’s one of the few series or games, next to Mass Effect, where I’m willing to do almost all of the sidequests their games have to offer. However, I do loathe pointless sidequests where you’re either collecting things or fetching a lost item to bring back to the quest giver. I much prefer sidequests that enrich the larger story or world in some way.

2. What is the greatest strength of your least favorite video game of all time?

A: I’m not sure if I played too many video games I consider my “least favorite”. There have been games I thought were just okay. I think one that sticks out in my mind is Far Cry 5. The gameplay is one of the few things I really did enjoy about the game. The story itself is very lackluster, which I go into detail here.

3. What is your personal definition of a “perfect” video game?

A: My perfect video game is one that has compelling story and characters from beginning to end. Without those elements, I feel like it’s pointless for me to continue playing the game.

4. What is the most “perfect” video game that you have ever played?

A: I will have to go with The World Ends With You. It has everything you could hope for in a game—fun gameplay, stellar soundtrack, a strong narrative with some of the best character development I’ve ever seen, and fantastic graphics all throughout.

5. How would you rank the following media formats in order from your favorite to least favorite to consume: Video Games, Books, Movies, TV Shows, Music?

A: I don’t think I can rank these media formats because I love them all! It’s how I spend most of my weekends—doing a little of all 5.

6. Have you ever regretted buying a video game on day one? If so, which game and why?

A: There actually hasn’t been a video game I bought on day one that I have regretted. This is mainly because I don’t tend to buy a lot of video games the first day they come out. The few that I have, I never regretted those purchases one bit.

7. What is an indie game release that you are eagerly anticipating?

A: I’m sorry to say that I don’t follow a lot of indie games. I usually buy indie games based on recommendations or video game review sites.

8. What video game traveling party would you like to join?

A: If we’re talking about choosing a cast of video game characters I wouldn’t mind traveling with, then I would choose the ones from Mass Effect. I get to go to space and be in the same company as Commander Shepard (female Shepard that is), Garrus, Tali, Kaidan, and the rest of the Normandy crew.

9. If you had unlimited funds, talent, and technology to create any game you could ever dream of, what would you create?

A: Probably not the most original answer in the world, but I would create a sweeping fantasy adventure game that isn’t unlike Dragon Age. I love my sword fights and dragons!

10. Your favorite video game protagonist and antagonist get pitted together in a death match. Who would win?

A: This death match would be between Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect series and Ardyn Izunia from Final Fantasy XV. As much as Shepard is a badass who can take on just about anything and anyone thrown his/her way, I think Ardyn would win this fight. Shepard is no match for the kind of power Ardyn possesses, especially since all Ardyn has to do is touch Shepard and daemonify him/her. It’d be over in an instant.

11. What is your favorite video game genre?

A: Role-playing video games.

I hope I answered these satisfactorily! The next step is to pass the award to other bloggers. I’m going to choose not to do that this time. I have nominated many of my favorite blogs in the past when I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award. I’ll only end up nominating the same people for the award. Instead, please kindly scroll down to my Blogroll on the right hand side of my site and click through some of the blogs I have listed. These are folks you should follow, as they consistently provide informative and entertaining content that never fails to disappoint.

Thank you for reading!
