Lately I’ve been wanting to write a post celebrating voice acting in video games. It’s a big topic I wasn’t sure how to broach, so I’ve brought in some of my fellow gamers and bloggers to share their favorite VO actors, performances, and moments. Please share yours in the comments too!

  1. The cast of the original Legacy of Kain games. Simon Templeman, Tony Jay, etc. Amazing actors, astonishing performances.

There are videos of them recording for Legacy of Kain: Defiance that are so much fun to watch.

On a related note, I wrote an article over on my site, The Mental Attic about voice acting in games. I wrote it around the time of the actors’ strike. That reminds me I never checked out what happened with that *runs to find out*

    Maybe you’ll dig it! http://thementalattic.com/2015/10/23/striking-voices-video-game-voice-acting/

  2. Favorite voice actors eh?

Don’t actually know that many, but I suppose favorite would include Nolan North, Jennifer Hale, Brandon Keener, and now Camilla Luddington thank to your post. She does such a great job in the role of Lara that I didn’t even really think of who might be doing the voice-acting for her. Her voice sounds just like one would imagine it would!

    1. Yeah, I didn’t know too many voice actors too until I started playing more video games. I think I became more familiar with the voice actors in Bioware games more than anything. I still have yet to play the new Tomb Raider, but I’m glad the voice acting is amazing in that game. I look forward to experiencing it at some point!
