My Blogging Wishes For The New Year

2013 is history and 2014 is coming upon us. New Year’s has always been considered a time of celebration and reflection. We celebrate the hope and promise the new year will bring us and reflect on the year we’ve had, good or bad. A new year is a fresh start and a clean slate, which is why New Year’s resolutions are popular to make before that clock strikes midnight. Whether we actually stick to the resolutions for the whole year is another thing entirely.

I have made New Year’s resolutions for the blog last year and I failed to meet at least one of them. Not all of it has gone down in complete failure. I have been fiercely dedicated to writing this blog on the days I said I would update it, even though my free time these days have dwindled quite a bit in the last few months. I don’t plan on making resolutions this year because it’s very easy to break them, despite your best intentions. Instead, I’m going to make wishes for my blog and I hope I can fulfill them.

I wish to make time to watch the anime I’ve been wanting to watch, old and new, and I hope to fill the blog with more anime based writing. When I started this blog two years ago, I liked having a variety of topics to write about. Anime watching and manga reading has always been my top geeky hobbies to do way before I became a gamer. I liked the idea of discussing the characters, stories, and themes that would crop up in the specific titles I’m into. I preferred to write my own analysis on an anime or manga and be able to share those ideas with the world. It beats analyzing everything in your head, especially if your own friends aren’t into the same titles you like. This is exactly why I love blogging as a medium. I have met so many great people online in the past year and I proudly call them friends.

2013 came with its own set of surprises. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would connect with some of the people I have connected with over the course of a year. We may be far apart, but I do feel close to many of them. With such a warm and loving community that blogging presents us, it’s impossible to want to stop now. It’s what keeps us connected.

Another wish I have is to really sit down and finish many of the games I have in my room. I’ll admit, I haven’t been playing too many games in the last few months or so. And if I do play any, it’s not in the same way I used to play for hours until my butt became sore from sitting for a long period of time. My life has gotten quite crazy lately, but I also need to find time to get swept up in the wonderful worlds and characters waiting for me to discover. It also gives me more material for my blog as well.

My final wish, and this one is an obvious one, is to continue being a dedicated contributor to both Geek Force Network and United We Game. Okay, I’ve been successful at keeping up with scheduled posts at GFN but not so much with UWG. So sorry UWG. I will remedy that in the new year! If it wasn’t for the online connections I’ve made in 2013, my own contributions to GFN and UWG probably wouldn’t have existed. I actually wonder if GFN and UWG would even exist if many of my other fellow bloggers haven’t connected in the way they have with other bloggers in the past year. Regardless, it happened and our blogging community is wonderful and awesome.

I am excited for 2014. I have a lot of hope that it’ll be a great year. On that note, Happy New Year to all my readers. May your new year be filled with video games, more great blogging, and general geekery! See you all in 2014.

haha semantics, wshes or resolutions.. I just think it’s good to have certain goals to look forward to during the year as a way to focus attention but just not to be super serious about them. If you do that great if not doesn’t matter.

Also, love the cardcaptor pics. Makes me want to watch it again

    1. Thanks! Yeah, I don’t know, wishes sounds better than resolutions. At least wishes are something you either see fulfilled or you don’t and that’s really okay. Either way, I’m looking forward to see what 2014 has in store for me.

Happy New Year! And yes, Cardcaptor Sakura is one of the best anime and manga series out there. 🙂

  4. Happy New Year! I have to say, I really admire you for posting each week so consistently. Reading your blog is something I look forward to doing every week, even if it takes me a few days to hop on WordPress and catch up. =)

Also, I am with you on wanting to finish more games this year! My thing is to avoid starting so many games at one time so I can actually FINISH the games I start in a timely fashion…

    1. Happy New Year, Ashley! And thank you! It’s tough keeping a consistent schedule, but somehow I manage. 🙂 I do find it harder to catch up on my regular blog readings, but I make time where I can.

I really have a problem of starting so many games too. Or buying more games when I shouldn’t. I think I’m going to sit down and take stock of what I have and see which ones I want to really finish through to the end. Let’s hope we both succeed this year!
