2013 New Year’s Resolutions for Simpleek

With the crazy business of the world “ending” this year based on the Mayan calendar behind us, it’s time to focus on the approaching new year.

2012 has been a pretty good year on a personal level and for this blog as well. I garnered more followers and readers than I thought possible, and I’m still writing a post a week. I still wish I had the time to do two posts a week, but the important thing is pushing myself to be able to write one good post every week. I hope I am living up to that commitment, dear readers!

Looking back at some of the posts I have written this past year, I can count posts I am quite proud of writing and some I wish I had done better on. I also realized how difficult it is to balance writing one topic over the other. Being a blog that likes to write about manga, anime, video games, and a bit of fashion in between––it’s clear that some topics will get more attention than others.

As a 2013 resolution for the Simpleek blog, I hope to challenge myself to write more analysis based posts because I haven’t written enough of those. I also wish to write more anime based posts. My anime related ones are sorely lacking, but I blame it on not finding enough time to watch the animes I currently own at home or are sitting on my Netflix queue waiting to be watched. I hope to squeeze more time in for the anime perspective on the blog in the new year. Reviews will still be written for the blog, but I don’t want to become too much like a review blog either. What I enjoy writing the most are posts where I can discuss things and where I can make observations on things I have noticed or seen. Discussion has been my main motivation for keeping this blog, and I hope to spark more conversation in 2013 with my regular readers and future ones.

Happy New Year everyone, and see you all in 2013!

  1. Happy New Year, simpleek! I’m so happy to hear that you’ll be trying to include more anime discussions, though also greatly enjoy your fashion chats. A good part of your charm is how all over the topics you are; it makes it feel like we really get to know you and all your different sides.

    1. Happy New Year to you too, Marina! And thank you. I’m glad you enjoy the variety on my blog. It was just too hard to narrow the topics down to just one when I first started to think about doing a blog. It’s nice to know that you think it’s part of the charm for my blog. 😉

  2. Happy New Year! I’ve really enjoyed your blog this year, so I’m excited to hear you’ll be continuing it in 2013. I agree with Marina above that it’s great to read on different topics from you! Also, I don’t know a lot about anime or manga, but I’ve been wanting to get into them so I am sure I will turn to your blog for some inspiration as I get started. =)

    1. Happy New Year to you too! I really do hope to write more on the anime side. I also think the manga discussions were falling by the wayside for a bit on this blog, but something I hope to change. I’m pretty sure some of the stuff I have liked and talked about would be things you may find yourself enjoying too! I have a number of topics in mind for the new year, and I can’t wait to write and share them with everyone. 🙂

  3. Happy New Year~ I’m happy to hear you will be continuing the blog into 2013. Like everyone else, I like your multiple approach since I am into all three of those thing as well. 😀 And your fashion posts are interesting to me because I’ve never thought too much about the subject. Out of anime, manga, and games; I think I neglect anime the most too. I guess because I’m more of a manga person, I tend to do more manga posts. Anyway, keep up the good work! 🙂

    1. Happy New Year! And thank you for all your support. You were one my earlier followers along with starsamaria. 😉 I definitely don’t mean to neglect anime so much, but it really has more to do with not having enough time to sit down and watch everything as much as I used to. I probably think the blog would have been better suited to me back in the days when I had more free time and watched way more anime then!

  4. Happy New Year! I know what you mean about finding balance in your posts. Although my blog covers both anime and manga, I write far more about manga than anime. Part of that is because there are way more shojo manga than anime (especially in terms of what’s licensed), and the other part is that it’s far easier to follow several manga series at a time than it is for anime. It’s nice that you came up with a New Year’s resolution for your blog – and I hope to see more anime posts from you in the future! 😀

    1. Happy New Year! And thank you. 🙂 I agree, it’s easier to keep up with manga than anime. I also find it easier to read a little of one volume a night before bed. It’s kind of hard to do that with anime. I also feel like I need to be in a TV watching mood too. I know after a long day from work, I prefer to have a quiet evening curled up in my bed with a good book.
