Flats: The Versatile Shoe

Summer is around the corner and nearly everyone is putting their boots in storage. The warmer temperatures allow us to let our feet breathe and see the light of day. When the weather isn’t warm enough to show off your lovely toe-nail polished feet, flats are your go-to shoe.

I enjoy wearing flats. They are the best alternative to high heeled shoes if you want to dress your look up or down, and you want your feet to look stylish without killing them. These shoes are easy to slip on or off, and they look great with skinny jeans, shorts, or a skirt. It has a nice laid back feel to them.

I enjoy wearing high heels sometimes but considering I live in a city where everyone is constantly on the go, I need shoes that will allow me to move quickly and easily without worrying about walking slowly or tripping on my heels as I try to get to my destination quickly.

The flats are one of my favorite simple style shoes to wear. They come in different colors, shapes, and sizes. Depending on what you are wearing, flats are the best kind of shoes for looking and feeling pretty while also stating that you are the type of girl who likes to kick back and relax. I also think flats flatter all feet too. There will be something for everyone whether you want to look fierce in a leopard print flat or go dainty and delicate with a satin pink flat. I hardly think flats will go out of style. It’s the one shoe that will never grow old just like stiletto shoes will never become a fad.

Are you a lover of flats or do you prefer heels that give you lots of height?

  1. Oh man, I am SUCH a huge fan of flats. I have never been much of a skirt/dress kinda gal, so it follows that I don’t like the inconvenience of heels either. I think both look incredibly cute and/or sexy, but I just value my own comfort (physical and mental) too much.

    Flats are incredibly versatile for any outfit and occasion, and I don’t foresee them going out of fashion any time soon. I just snatched up an adorable pair of leopard print flats just yesterday from Nordstrom Rack, and am on the hunt for a good deal on flats with a nautical stripe design.

    1. I’m not too big on animal prints, but I do love the nautical stripe design. It’s a very summeresque type of style. I’m definitely obsessed with flats. I have boxes of them for any kind of occasion or outfit.

  2. I’ve always been more of a sneakers person myself, but flats definitely appeal to me as well because of how functional they are while still being cute. It’s interesting that you wrote that flats are a good go-to for when it’s not warm enough for toe-out shoes: I wish more women would listen to that advice. I once saw a woman wearing open-toe shoes in the snow! What women will do for fashion.

    1. Really? I haven’t seen anything like that at all. The closest I’ve seen in that scenario is when women and sometimes men still insist on wearing flip flops as the temperatures start to drop (fall season temps). Actually one of my friends is guilty of this. She’ll wear her flip flops for as long as she can before she tucks the feet in more closed type of shoes.

  3. I don’t have any flats. I swear my feet are too weirdly shaped (or rather not the desired female foot type) to fit into anything and not give me blisters or feel really uncomfortable. 😦 Well outside of sneakers, that is. That seems to be the only kind of shoe I can wear and feel super comfortable (flip flops too but those are strictly summer shoes… and a few winter boots). I wish I didn’t have this problem as shopping for dress shoes is the bane of my existence. It takes forever to find something even semi-comfortable. D:

    1. That’s a shame. It seemed like flats may be the type of shoe that’s for everyone from what I saw. I know boots and high heels can be tricky things. I have friends who envy the fact that I can wear any kind of boots without any problems. My friends have a hard time finding boots that fit because of their calves or legs. Comfort for your feet is everything for sure! When I wear comfy shoes, I feel I can keep walking forever.

      1. I think for me the problem is my feet are really wide, while the soles made for female footwear (including flats) tend to be rather narrow so there is always some bit of my foot “sticking out”. With sneakers because of the material they are made of, that bit that sticks out doesn’t feel uncomfortable. Also I think I have a mild case of flat foot, so yeah, that definitely does not help. ^__^;;;

      2. That’s weird. It’s the first time your comments didn’t auto-approve like always. XD

        I’m actually picky about sneakers. As I got older, I never liked how sneakers look chunky to me. The only sneakers I’ll wear are “slimmer” ones like tennis shoes type or converses. I think it’s because my feet are small and when I wear regular sneakers it makes me feel like a clown with big feet. ^^;

      3. Now that I thought about it, I think it’s because I changed my email. It oddly reset a bunch of things on my account like my avatar (had to re-upload it). No idea why wordpress is funny like that. Also, my commenting account and my blog account seem to be separate because I changed the email for the latter a while ago (made one specifically for the blog) yet I still kept getting notices for comments and replies on my old one. I only recently discovered that my user account has it’s own separate email field. WordPress, why are you so weird? xD
